Q: What is the writing vertical on BreakPoint?

Novels, nonfiction books, memoirs, blog series, article collections, screenplays, poetry collections, and other long-form writing projects that have been started and abandoned. The handoff model: the original author can hand off to a co-author, or revive it themselves, or archive it.

Q: How is writing different from code adoption?

Code adoption preserves a URL, an issue tracker, and an existing user base. Writing adoption preserves a manuscript, a writing style, and (sometimes) a publishing contract. The handoff is usually between the original author and a co-author, not a stranger.

Q: Can I hand off my unfinished novel to someone else?

Yes — but with care. The original author's voice is the most important thing. A co-author who respects the voice and finishes the work is the right handoff. A ghostwriter who replaces the voice is not — that's not a handoff, that's a rewrite. The next-action section should describe not just what to write, but how the original author wrote it.

Hand off as a writing prompt. Publish the manuscript with a CC license. Other writers can build on it, remix it, use it as a starting point.
Archive it with grace. If nobody picks it up in 90 days, archive with a clear "this is no longer being written" note. The work is still real. It just didn't find its reader.
